From where the Loire meets the Atlantic, crisp, dry and fruity, and ideal with fish and seafood

2. Riesling, Kreuznacher Kronenberg Germany 12.95
For the slightly sweeter palate, brimming with generous ripe fruit flavours but balanced by a touch of refreshing acidity

3. Chardonnay, First Step Australia 14.95
Tropical and citrus fruit aromas and flavours combine in this well structured wine which has subtle vanilla traces on the finish

4. Sauvignon Blanc, Wither Hills New Zealand 18.95
Stunning Marlborough Sauvignon, with upfront gooseberry and green apple aromas and a mouthwatering, vibrant crispness on the palate

5. Sancerre, Les Pierriers France 19.95
An elegant wine from the Central Loire region, with an herbaceous bouquet and a fresh, clean palate of apple, melon and lime

6 Chablis, Grand Cru, Les Blanchots 1995 France 49.95
Les Blanchots is one of the seven Grand Crus facing South-West across the town of Chablis. Although steely dry with a fine mineral edge, ageing in oak barrels lends the wine a rich warmth. A classic white Burgundy at its very best now.

Red Wine Selection

7. Merlot, Terra Andina Chile 12.95
Sumptuous plum and damson aromas and flavours abound in this superb wine from the “Land of the Andes,” with a mellow, lingering finish

8. Shiraz, First Step Australia 14.95
Dark bramble fruit flavours are interlaced with traces of coffee and exotic spices in this rich, heady wine from South Australia

9. Beaujolais, Maison Chandesais France 14.95
Gamay, the red grape of Beaujolais, produces a light and elegant wine with a subtle floral aroma and a juicy, flavoursome palate of red berry fruits

10. Rioja Crianza, El Coto Spain 16.95
Aged in oak to lend a velvety smoothness to the lush flavours of ripe strawberry with underlying notes of rich vanilla

11. Chianti, Fattoria Il Palagio Italy 18.95
A sturdy yet elegant wine from picturesque Tuscan vineyards, where the Sangiovese grape makes a wine with appealing aromas of cherry and violets, leading to a smooth palate and a firm, enduring finish

12. Pernanad-Vergelesses, Tastevine 1994 France 29.95
From this little known village on the Côte de Beaune comes this delicious wine, brimming with juicy pastille fruit flavours, but with a subtle earthiness and sumptuous finish characteristic of good red Burgundy. 1994 is sometimes referred to as the “forgotten vintage,” but as this example shows, some stunning wines were produced in this region in that year.

Light and dry in style, and bursting with delightful summer fruit aromas and flavours
